The first thing I noticed about High Drive Production of Gay Dorm Whores was its cheap cover of 18 year old boys in their butt huggers smiling at the camera.  This is not a good first impression for me.  Like a lot of viewers out there, I would assume that it is a cheap amateur DVD made with pennies for a budget with nothing but twinks going at it for a few minutes per scene.  However, I remained biased throughout the film and this is what I think:

I thought all of the guys were pretty cute.  They aged from 18-21 with the exception of Brendan, who is 25.  None of them had an ounce of fat on them which isn’t fun for me because I like meaty guys.  The positions were pretty standard, there was no weird positions and no acrobatics whatsoever. 

What I liked is that these guys did look like they were having fun and most of them are new to porn so I suppose that’s a good thing.   On the first scene, they tried to use some effects by splitting the screen which wasn’t anything amusing.  It looked like they were just playing with graphics. 

The acting wasn’t that great or hot.  I know these boys aren’t up for any awards (not even a Woody, I would imagine), but get me interested! What I liked most is that they had nice cocks and were pretty good at working them!  We get a hot money shot in the final scene which you don’t see too often in gay porn (in my opinion).  Also, scene three has a rimming scene that looks pretty tasty as well.

Out of all the guys I liked, I liked Brendan the most.  He was a little bit cuter, older (25, oh my god!) and he had a nice cock.  I was surprised to see someone in that age bracket in this movie because  High Drive Productions mainly focused on the guys that were 18.

Overall, the movie wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great.  The boys were cute and that always is a plus.  They could work on the sex a little bit more to make it a little bit more hot. 

At the end of the film, they provide us with a Q&A with the boys that is pretty cute and makes them a little bit more down to earth.  Gay Dorm Whores had nothing to do with being gay in a dorm, but sure can pick out some hot gay twinks! Rent Gay Dorm Whores.

Burning Angel really is reaching out to all mediums when it comes to marketing their product and this coffee table book makes me wish I had a coffee table…or at least that I was the sort of person who needed to put out coffee table books.  On the other hand I can see my husband freaking out and trying to hide it knowing family was coming to visit.  Speaking of my husband, when he came in from work and seen the book he said, “Oh wow!  She wrote a book.”  He picked it up and continued, “Hey, it’s a picture book.  I can read this!”

Burning Angel: The Book, contains 355 pages of full color pictures of punk rock girls for your viewing pleasure all taken by Burning Angel staff photographer the lovely Brenda.  There are pages and pages of your favorite Burning Angel girls from Joanna Angel and Chapel Waste to Misti Dawn and Jessie Lee. While the price might be a put off to some, you have to realize that printing a book of this quality doesn’t come cheap.  The book is hardbound and, being someone anal retentive about books, I am very happy that it’s so well put together that the binding isn’t going to break anytime soon (something that I can’t say for all hardback books this thick).

Things I like about this book:

• Physically it’s put together well.  The binding isn’t going to break any time soon and the pages are high quality paper without being glossy.
• The introduction is written in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
• The book pays equal tribute to many of the Burning Angel girls without singling out anyone out and giving them special attention.  In a book of this kind it would be so easy, without even trying, to give one girl more space than another.

What I don’t like about the book:

• I had actually expected it to be bigger.  Size-wise it’s about 6 inches by 5 inches and a good inch and a half to two inches thick.  I had expected it to magazine size with larger pictures.  On the flip side, the pictures don’t suffer from being a smaller size and the size of the book does make it more compact if you want to take it somewhere with you.  Face it, it’s a book and because it’s a book people on the bus, airplane or subway aren’t going to be as judgmental if you are looking at a book as they would be if you were looking at a magazine with naked girls in it.  Somewhere along the way magazine became synonymous with smut while a book became synonymous with art.  I just wanted and expected it to be bigger but thinking about it now, that would have added more to the cost of the book.
• Double page spreads loose some of the picture in the binding.  It happens with every book and luckily there aren’t many of those photos in the book that it becomes annoying.

The one thing that may disappoint some fans is that there are no hardcore pictures in the book.  It’s just lots of pictures of naked and half naked punk girls doing what naked girls do when they aren’t having sex and there is a camera nearby taking photos, and as far as I know, the first photo collection of it’s kind in existence.  Until now punk girls have not exactly been the sort of subject matter that spawns books.   Personally, I love Burning Angel: The book.  Then again, I love looking at pictures of tattooed people and checking out their ink.

(If you’d rather just experiment turn the Guide off for now, but you’ll want it later for the more involved acts of the game.)

The one downer of the game is no sound, just word captions from our trussed up heroine, so you’ll just have to pretend that Barry White is playing. So, let’s take a page from Barry and start taking some clothes off. Remember your cursor, run along her arm gauntlets and an arrow icon will appear showing you how to pull them off.

We’re Back!!

We’re back!  The move was mostly painless.  Somewhere there is some sadistic bastard that enjoys moving.  I want to meet that person and beat the shit out of him/her.  Moving has got to be the biggest pain in the ass ever.  I am happy that this time around we didn’t have to make a trip to the ER mid move.  I am also happy to be back on line.   A week without internet and I learned three things:

1. The internet is depended on way to much by society in general.  Without it it’s hard to get anything done, especially when you need it for “work”.
2. Trying to keep up with email,  Twitter, etc is a pain in the ass from a cell phone.  If that was the only way that I could access the internet and stay connected with the world I wouldn’t bother. Too much hassle.
3. I need to put one of my reviewers in charge of the site if I am going to be gone again.   I came back to way to much to do.

Speaking of way to much to do…there are some exciting things coming up here at Adult Movies Today including an interview with Wicked Pictures director Brad Armstrong.  We are really looking forward to the movie 2040 here.  I was wondering how Brad was going to top last years Fallen.  If the trailer is any indication, he’s topped it and went one step further.  It’s always fun from a reviewers stand point to see a director challenge him/herself.  You get great movies that way.

I just wanted to bring everyone’s attention to the new podcast page.  These podcasts were originally done for Adultmaven last year (2008).   We originally had each of the podcasts linked to our NowLive profile.  As most people familiar with the podcasting sites know, NowLive has gone under and that makes the links on Adultmaven invalid.  I can’t restore them to Adultmaven, nor would I want to at this juncture, but I have made them available for everyone to listen to here.

Last week I ordered a copy of Burning Angel Magazine because I wanted to check it, see what Joanna Angel put together, and give it some exposure, because I like to share things I like with everyone else in hopes that they will like it too.  In fact, that is the entire point of this website…helping people find porn that they will like.

My copy arrived today, autographed.  I really don’t mind spending $12.00 for a magazine, but I did originally bitch about paying $6.00 shipping.  However, it arrived in a bubble mailer designed to protect the contents.  I can not think of any other magazine I have ordered that has happened with.  Hell, in the past I have had both XBiz and AVN arrive mangled and stuffed in one of those wonderful baggies from the post office that says “We are sorry we destroyed your mail, but here are the pieces, maybe you can make a day out of putting it back together jigsaw puzzle like and tape it up where you can get some idea of what the contents of this baggie are supposed to be.  All the pieces may or may not be here, we salvaged what we could, so good luck with it all.  We really hope it wasn’t anything important.”  Okay, that’s not really what those baggies say, but there is some apology on there about destroyed mail I don’t buy.  The abuse that magazines take in the postal system is why I personally prefer to purchase them at the bookstore.  Where $6.00 really does seem excessive to mail a magazine it was totally worth it.  My only complaint with the magazine is my complaint with every magazine, no matter what it is, there are too many damn ads.  Yes, I know, this is how magazines pay the bills so I just suck it up and deal.  At least there are none of those annoying adverts for perfumes that make the magazine smell like my step-fathers mom.  She worked in a hospital as a nurses assistant and I always felt bad for her patients because the woman had to mix together a minimum of five perfumes before she was happy.

It seems almost ironic that in an economy that has seen Playboy close offices and haul overseas publications as well as Vibe Magazine shutting it’s doors entirely, that anyone would embark on a print publication at this time.  On the other hand, this could be the perfect time to start a print publication like Burning Angel.  As much as I hate to say it, tattoos have never been more popular or more fashionable.  Everyone is jumping on the LA/Miami Ink and Ed Hardy bandwagons.  What the Suicide Girls started, Joanna Angel has taken to another level.  Not everyone wants to look at the “Porn Blonde.”  You know the type, the one with the Jenna Jameson look that after they are accosted by a make up artist you have a hard time telling them apart.  There is only one Jenna Jameson, just as there was only one Marilyn Monroe, and I wish everyone would find their own thing to do instead of trying to be like someone else.  While there are a number of people who can’t get enough of those blondes (at least I hope that is what it is and that they aren’t the product of a porn industry that is telling us what we want), Joanna Angel has come along with Burning Angel and saved the rest of us from the boring and mundane.

Not everyone wants to look at airbrushed girls that seem to have no physical flaws.

This, I am sure, are two of the reasons that Burning Angel has become so popular.  I also think that part of the reason Burning Angel is so popular is the girls seem more real and less out of reach like the fantasy blonde that is always put on a societal pedestal, that fashion magazines tell women they should look like, that Barbie embodies.

With Burning Angel Magazine Joanna Angel has taken the pages of her website and put it in print.  There are pages and pages of sex taken from her websites and from her movies.  There is a Joanna Angel centerfold.  There are interviews with the Burning Angel girls (Joanna even interviews herself).  There are band interviews and album/CD reviews.  This first edition has a story written by a member of the Burning Angel Street Team that was recruited by Joanna as a porn stud.  It’s all laced with the humor that everyone familiar with Burning Angel has come to expect.   The magazine doesn’t pretend to be something it isn’t.  It doesn’t hide naked girls behind pretentious articles.  As entertaining as the articles in Burning Angel Magazine are, you aren’t going to say “I read it for the articles” as a cop-out where you don’t have to admit to looking at pictures of naked girls.  The first person that tells me that they look at the magazine for the tattoos I am going to slap.  That is what Savage and Inked are for.  (I just realized that Inked Magazine is the tattoo worlds equivalent to Playboy.  It’s trying to be classy and intelligent while presenting something that society doesn’t necessary agree with.  A classy magazine with intelligent articles seems to make something taboo more acceptable.)

Personally, as much as I love my computer and technology, I still like reading magazines, I still like holding books. I don’t require that everything be handed to me digitally.  I know I am not the only one who feels this way.  This is why various magazines still have millions of readers/subscribers, even if I am convinced that some of these magazines were printed only to be read in the doctors office waiting room.  This is why I believe Burning Angel Magazine is going to be just as successful as every other aspect of Burning Angel.  It’s so much easier to take a magazine into the bathroom for 20 minutes of alone time than trying to sneak in there with your computer.  It’s also more portable.  For example you can toss it in your carry on bag on your next flight along with, say Golf Digest or Neurology Today, and just like when you were a kid trying not to get caught reading comic books in class, hide the magazine in something a lot more pretentious where no one has a clue.  Not only that, you know what the really great thing about magazines are?  After you have read it and you are done with it, you can pull out the pictures you really like and hang them on their wall or put them in that personalized porn scrapbook you are making with all your favorite girls in it.  If nothing else, when you are done with it you can always give it to your tattoo artist as part of his tip.

PSA from ASACP

The ASACP (Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection) has released a PSA on how to report child pornography where you, yourself, can’t and don’t get charged with possession or distributing said content.  Believe it or not, even forwarding the URL of an offending site to the authorities can get you in trouble!

“ASACP’s CP hotline receives an average of 7,000 reports each month; however, coming across CP on the Internet is a situation few are prepared for,” ASACP CEO Joan Irvine said. “What makes it so difficult is the shock of seeing the image of a very young child, even babies, being horribly sexually abused. It’s so upsetting that many people have a hard time properly reporting what they’ve seen. That is why ASACP created this new PSA on how to report CP.”

ASACP’s “How to Report Child Pornography” PSA explains exactly what steps computer users should take when they encounter suspect child pornography online.

“Sexual exploitation of children is a heinous crime and reporting it could help save a child from being further victimized,” the PSA says. “However, when reporting child sexual exploitation, it could be just as important to know what not to do as it is to know what to do in order to not become criminally liable for the possession or distribution of child pornography.”

Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online.
