In order to save money, Vivid ships movies without cases.  They come in a paper sleeve.  I don’t have a problem with this in general, but in the case of Content, it seriously confused me.  There is no disk art.  Then again, maybe there is.  The disk looked like a lot of the disks that you buy in bulk at some place like Micro Center that says content and under it has the lines for you to write, with Sharpie Marker, what is on the disk.  Off to the right hand side it said Vivid Alt.  I thought that someone over at Vivid screwed up and sent me a blank disk.  When I popped it into the DVD player I found Content.

We don’t normally watch porn to think, we watch porn for enjoyment and to help us get off.  Every now and then though porn makes us think and feel.  And every now and then it makes a statement.  And yet Jules Jordan sent Eon McKai an email basically telling him to do something original.  I don’t remember ever contemplating my existence or the existence of anything else after watching a Jules Jordan video.  On the other hand once the credits roll on an Eon McKai film I find myself deep in thought.  As I explained to someone today, Eon’s work is more reality porn than the so called reality porn that we all know is staged and supposed to look like reality.  Watching it sometimes makes you feel weird at the end because you know that is the way things really are and when it’s all over you realize you are nothing more than a voyeur.

It’s almost ironic.

CONTENT: noun – the things that are held or included in something.
“He unscrewed the top of the flask and drank the contents.”
“He picked up the correspondence and scanned the content”

The movie jacket (I assume it’s the movie jacket since that is what online video stores put as the synopsis of the movie, and I didn’t get a jacket) asks if Content is a post-modern porn cop-out.   Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.  What is, more than anything, is a look of sorts behind the scenes of internet porn, the sort of content that is changing the landscape of porn as we know it.  Because of societal induced ADD very few people have the patience to sit through a full movie length movie anymore.  Instead, they prefer the individual sex scenes, sans plot, that serve as website content.

For under $500 just about anyone can make porn.  All you need is a video camera, some video editing software and some willing participants willing to be filmed fucking.  This is the sort of content that is proliferating throughout the internet for free, and in tough economic times, when people have very limited income to spend on extras, the sort content that people seeking out to get their fix.  As a easy way to make money people will buy a number of domains to promote affiliates on.  To promote those affiliates the site needs content.  It doesn’t matter what kind of content, just as long as there are naked people and they are doing something sexual that isn’t illegal.  In some sort of weird perverted feeding frenzy the horny flock to these sites, dicks in hands, because they can get a quick sexual fix for free.  There are no more sticky magazine pages or trying to hide a number of movies because your grandmother showed up unexpected.  It’s on the net and it’s free.  And people demand more like content.

Eon McKai captured the essence of what goes into making this content in Content with the help of Octavio Winky Tiki.  The movie looked much like a behind the scenes of a photo shoot.  You could see filming equipment here and there, you could see Octavio in some of the shots, you could hear Eon talking to the talent about nothing and about everything.  You could see the performers getting ready for the scenes.  Eon even shared his notes about each scene on the screen as a lead in to the action, often times with blatant typos like you would see on the internet.

Kimberly Kane and Mr. Pete
KK had not had sex in a month.
She did anal with Mr. Pete.
It was pretty nuts to be honist.

Prior to the scene we see Kimberly getting dressed, the make up girl helping her with removing tags and the like.  A bed is put in front of a backdrop to look like there is a city outside.  It all looks kind of squalid.  But this is how such content is filmed.  It’s filmed anywhere and everywhere despite conditions with bad lighting and shaky camera work.  The editing isn’t even that clean.  However, since Eon did this all on purpose to achieve his desired effect, it’s very Sundance-esque.   Despite the lack of plot the movie says a lot.

Kimberly looks desperate and lost.  Again, a realistic depiction of many girls seeking attention by making internet porn and hoping to become famous.  This is all a new side of porn and it’s slowly taking over.  After a scene that comes across more intense than you would expect (Kimberly Kane and Mr. Pete make a great pairing and there is chemistry here I rarely see in a Mr. Pete scene), Kimbery and Mr. Pete laugh with the director and camera man.

Coco Velvet & Daniel
Coco giggles as Daniel put her threw a ruff scene

Personally I don’t think that Coco giggled all that much or that Daniel was all that rough with her.

Madison Young and Dane Cross
Madison was excited to be in a an Eon McKai movie until she found out it was just content.

Yes, that is all it was, content.  It doesn’t matter that it was Madison Young or Dane Cross.  Either of them, or both of them, could have been replaced with anyone.  That is the feeling that we get from Eon’s notes.  Again, the backdrop feels squalid as they have sex amid things that should have been thrown out.  Why?  Because sometimes sex just seems all that more primitive and girls seem that much sluttier when they will have sex in bathrooms or back alleys, or amid garbage.  It makes the sex “hot” to those who are watching.  To those voyeurs they are thinking “Wow, she was so horny and wanted fucked so bad that she did him right there!  That’s hot!”  That is also what we are supposed to think, especially when Madison takes it in the ass.

Cali Nova and Ben Jammin
It’s a boy friend girl friend thing

Ben Jammin.  I love porn names.  Some of them are so cheesy they are genius.  Cali and Ben represent so many exhibitionist couples on the net who film themselves having sex and post it on the net.  Doesn’t mean that the sex isn’t hot, it is.  But it is also just content.  Something that is going to fill a blank space somewhere on the net.

Kitty Me-ow McMuffin and Sherwood
Off the hook couple rock the set.
I think their burners
as in they probably go to Burning Man
But the scene is crazy hot.

If you are curious as to what Burning Man is, check out the Burning Man website.  It was an event similar to Burning Man that served as the backdrop of Michael Raven’s The Wicked.  Anyway, for reasons I can’t explain I found this to be the hottest scene of the movie even if I was confused by how much Sherwood needed to play with his dick himself.   Shouldn’t Kitty have been doing that?  Then again, it’s just content.

So, does it really matter who or what fills all this empty internet porn space that needs content?  Does porn even matter in the realm of the universe and human existence?  That depends on who you ask.  All I know is that Eon Mckai wants to bring our attention to the content and what it is and what it isn’t.
